Mera Peak Amalaptsa and Island peak Climb

Namaste and you welcome to Climbing Mera Peak-Amphu Lapsa pass and Climbing Island Peak,
This course lead you to the Nepal's most popular climbing peaks Mera and Island. Mera is the highest trekking peaks in Nepal considerably easy to ascend. We will be walking through the dense forest of rhododendron with standing Himalayan pine in first few Day. The summit of Mera peak gives you outstanding views of Mt. Makalu, Mt. Baruntse and Mt. Everest. Mt. Lhotse. After ascent on Mera the trip lead we to Amphu Lapcha La pass considerably strenuous due to its remote location. Then, after crossing the strenuous Amphu Lapcha La Pass we will enter the Imja valley for another ascent of Island Peak. Island Peak is known as easy climbing in Nepal’s trekking peaks. The summit of Island peak provides the marvelous vista of Mt. Everest. Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Amadablam Thamserku, Cholatse and Chhuphulu,

Trip Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival Kathmandu and transfer to your hotel.

Day 02: Kathmandu:
Your free day at Kathmandu hotel include with bed and Breakfast.

Day 03:  From Kathmandu  45 minute fly  to Lukla.
Today, we will take an early morning scenic flight from Kathmandu to the airstrip of Lukla. Lukla is the gateway to Khumbu and entire Everest region. From Lukla we start our trek heading east into the thick forest on the hillside. There are several trails that head away from the main trail on this section, so sticking to  the best option before arriving at Chhutang.(3020m). 3 hour walking from Lukla Overnight at Lodge.

Day 04: Chhuthang - Tuli Kharka.
Leaving Chhutang we will follow the trail that is a gradual ascent which steepens as we head towards the crossing of Zatrawala Pass at 4600 meters. Our tiring climb to the top of the pass is rewarded with magnificent views of Numbur Himal, Kongdi Ri, Karyolang Peak and other surrounding peaks. Our trek goes along a leveled path for almost two hours before descending all the way to Tuli Kharka.(4100m) 6 hours walking overnight at Lodge,

Day 05: Tuli Kharka – Kothe:
From Tuli Kharka our trail is a mixture of both uphill and downhill trekking through dense forest filled of rhododendron, oak, pine and juniper trees? During our trek today we will have magnificent views of Mera Peak and surrounding snow capped peaks. A steep descent to the Hinku River and a final uphill climb will lead us to Kothe. Kothe lies to the west side of the Hinku valley and offers serene wilderness with lush vegetation to trekkers.(4182m) 6 hours walking overnight at Lodge.

Day 06:  Kothe – Thangnak: 6 hours.
Our trail from Kothe goes along the ridge of Hinku river towards Gondishung. Further trekking we will pass through Lungsumgba Gompa which was built approximately 200 years ago. Here we can find Mera Peak along with its route scripted in rock which is a fantastic piece of rock carving architecture. Our trek continues with a rather easy walking trail that leads to the summer grazing area of Thangnak where there are shops and number of best tea houses.(4326,m) Overnight at Lodge.

Day 07; Thangnak – Khare:
Our trail from Thangnak goes over the lateral moraine towards hinku  and Shar Glaciers. From there our further trekking is a steep climb all the way to Khare. We will have magnificent view of Northern Face of Mera Peak from Khare. (5000,m) 6 hours walking Overnight at Lodge.

Day 08: Rest day at Khare:
Acclimatization is very essential in higher altitudes to avoid mental and physical sickness. As we are above 5000 meters altitude, we will spend a rest day at Khare for acclimatization and exploration. Proper acclimatization is a must for ensuring our successful summit climb of Mera Peak. Our Sherpa team will make necessary checks on our climbing gears including ropes, ice axes, crampons, harness and other equipments before heading further to higher camps.Overnight at Lodge.

Day 09: Khare- Mera Base Camp (5300m) 4 hours walking:
Leaving Khare, we start our short but technically demanding trek towards Mera Peak Base Camp. Our trail is a gradual ascend over to Mera Glacier. We will climb steeply towards the top of the glacier before traversing along the glacier to finally arrive at Mera Peak Base Camp. Once at the base camp our Sherpa crew will quickly set up the camp overnight at Lodge.

Day 10: Base camp- Mera High Camp (5700m)
Leaving the base camp we will follow the trail that climbs over through Mera La Pass and continue trekking along rocky and often snow covered trail towards Mera Peak High Camp. Once at the high camp our Sherpa crew will quickly set up the camps and make necessary checks on our health conditions and climbing gears. From the high camp, we can enjoy amazing views of Everest, Makalu, Nuptse, Cho Oyu, Baruntse and Chamlang about 4 hours.Overnight at Camp.

Day 11: Summit Mera Peak (6461m)
Today is the day we all have been desperately waiting for. Properly equipped and fully acclimatized we start early with the aim to reach the summit before noon. Strong winds after midday can create obstacles in reaching the summit. We start around 2 in the morning and after having breakfast we climb up the glacier and onto a ridge. Following the footsteps and guidance of our experienced climbing expert, we head towards Mera Peak summit. Once at the top we are rewarded with magnificent views of five spectacular (8000meter) peaks – Everest (8848m), Cho Oyu (8201, Makalu (8463,m) Kanchenjunga (8586,m) as well as Nuptse (7855,m) and Chamlang (7319,m). After spending quality time at the Mera Peak summit we will descend following the same route and head back to reach Kongma Dingma (4850m) about 9 hours walking.

Day 12: Kongma Dingma - Seto Pokhari  via Honku Valley:
From  Kongma Dingma we will follow the trail that leads higher into yak pasture grounds of the beautiful and remote valley. Our trail heads directly into the epicenter of world’s towering mountains. Our  trek along with magnificent views of surrounding mountains and high alpine valleys. Our trek continues until we arrive at Seto Pokhari (4825m) about 6 hour walking overnight  at camping..

Day 13: Seto pokhari Amphu Lapcha South  Base Camp:
From Seto Pokhari, we continue our trekking passing through one of the most remote part of the Himalayas. Our trail is a gradual ascend journey over the Honku valley which offers true mountain wilderness. We will continue to trek along the beautiful Honku valley and in short time we will arrive at Amphu Lapcha South  Base Camp (5650m) 5/6 hours walking overnight  at camping.

Day 14:  Amphu Lapcha Base Camp North  to pass high Amphu Lapch.
Today we start early for the crossing of the technically difficult and challenging alpine pass – Amphu Lapcha La Pass at (5845) meters. The pass is often covered with snow and ice, so moving one step at a time – we head towards the top of the pass. Once at the top of the pass we are rewarded with magnificent views of surrounding high mountains. From the top we will descend vigorously to reach Amphu Lapcha North Base Camp (5300m) 6/7 hours walking   overnight at  camping.  

Day 15:  From Amphu Laptsa Base Camp Island Peak Base camp:
To day we will have magnificent views of Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Nuptse , Island Peak and other surrounding high peaks. Our trek continues until we arrive at Island Peak Base  Camp. We will set up our camp at the foot of Island Peak’s south ridge beneath the giant wall of Nuptse and Lhotse.(5087m), about 5/6 hours Overnight at Camp.

Day 16: Acclimatization and Exploration
By now we are above 5000 meters from the sea level. So to avoid any kind of mental and physical illness we will take a rest here at the base camp before making the summit climb attempt of Island Peak. Our Sherpa will check our health conditions to make sure that everyone is fit for the main summit climb, the following day. They will also make necessary checks on climbing gears such as crampons, ice axes, harness and other equipments. Overnight at Camp,  

Day 17: Island Peak summit [6189m)
Today is the day we have been waiting for as we climb Island Peak and achieve its summit. Fully equipped and properly acclimatized we start early with the aim to reach the summit before noon. The strong winds especially after midday can really create obstacles in reaching the summit. Following the guidance and instructions given by our Experienced Sherpa climbers, we will tackle several technical sections and head towards the summit. Once at the top we are rewarded with breathtaking views of Mt Lhotse. Mt Makalu, Lhotse Middle Peaks, Lhotse Shar, Mt Nuptse, Mt Baruntse and other surrounding peaks . We will spend short and quality time at the top of Island Peak and then descend following the same route back to Base Camp.About 10 hours.

Day 18:  From Island Peak Base Camp - Dingboche,
After successfully conquering the summit of Island Peak, we take our time and start our return trek by retracing our footsteps and pass along the rocky trails which eventually heads back to Dingboche. We can wash away the sweat and tiredness when we arrive at Dingboche.6 hours walking. Overnight at Lodge.

Day 19: Dingboche =Namche Bazaar,
Leaving Dingboche we continue our return trek on main EBC trail. Our trail continues with rather easy donhill trekking that passes along many chortens to arrive at Namche Bazaar. After arriving at Namche Bazaar, we will walk around the busy market streets of Namche Bazaar with great views of Kwangde , Thamserku and  other snow topped mountains.7 hours walking overnight at Lodge.

Day 20:  Namche - Lukla,
From Namche 7 hours walking to Lukla overnight at Lodge.

Day 21: Lukla – Kathmandu.
From Lukla morning fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to your hotel,

Day 22: Kathmandu:
Your free day ant Kathmandu hotel include with bed and breakfast.

Day 23: Departure:
After breakfast transfer to international airport Kathmandu for departure.
